Amy M. Hass
Associate University Counsel for Student Affairs, Security & Litigation
Amy Hass represents and advises the University in a wide variety of legal matters. Her primary areas of practice include litigation, general tort liability issues, constitutional law, student affairs, and other student-related legal issues including student privacy rights, issues relating to student organizations, student conduct and discipline, and related administrative actions and appeals. She also advises the University with regard to public records laws and coordinates responses to subpoenas issued to University departments and employees.
Prior to joining the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel, Ms. Hass was a litigator with the law firm of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP in Atlanta and New York. While in private practice, Ms. Hass represented financial services companies and individuals in a wide range of government enforcement proceedings, civil litigation, white collar criminal defense, arbitrations and internal corporate investigations. Ms. Hass also advised clients on general corporate ethics, procedure and compliance.
Ms. Hass graduated, with honors, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Furman University. Ms. Hass is a member of The Florida Bar, The State Bar of Georgia and the Federal Bar Council. Ms. Hass is admitted to practice in all state courts in Florida and Georgia. She is also admitted to practice in the Northern and Southern U.S. District Courts of Florida and the Northern U.S. District Court of Georgia.
